Wills

A policy without instructions is only half a plan.

A will or wasiat says who manages your estate and how it should be distributed. Insurance nominations sit beside it. They should be written so they do not contradict each other.

Two systems, and you need the right one

For non-Muslims, if you die without a will, the Distribution Act decides who inherits the estate. For Muslims, inheritance follows faraid. A wasiat generally cannot give away more than one-third, and not in a way that defeats the forced heirs. Those are different documents. Using the wrong one is a serious mistake.

Money paid under a valid insurance nomination may pass outside the estate. That can be exactly what you want for a spouse or child, or it can accidentally bypass the people you named in a will. The two have to be read together.

What an appointment covers

We review the policies you already have, the nominations on them, and who depends on you. A lawyer or a qualified will-writer prepares the will or wasiat. Our job is to make sure the insurance does not quietly undo it.
